The control of the bovine virus diarrhoea virus (BVDV) infection has several core elements that needs to be taken into account if the control is to be successful. In Europe there are at the moment two main approaches for BVDV control

  1. Vaccination and
  2. Zoo-sanitary control or control by the use of bio-security measures only.

In order to assess the control options and/or combinations of these the BVDV control network has split its work into four work packages focusing on:

  1. Diagnostic tools and procedures and aspects of the genome,
  2. Epidemiology and the assessment of risk factors in different settings in Europe,
  3. Vaccines and vaccination strategies and last but not least
  4. the Socio-Economic assessment of the different control options.

Information related to these four themes can be found by clicking on the respective subjects under Network Focus in the left column.
